Experience:

long Term Care Manager: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

CNO Membership (required)

-A Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence with the CNO, BScN preferred.
-Post-R.N. education in gerontology or 3 years relevant experience in long-term care.
-Post-R.N. education in adult training or 3 years relevant experience in adult training.
-Genuine interest in all aspects of Long-Term Care.
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and team skills
-Innovative, creative, flexible and enthusiastic.
-Clear understanding of Resident-Centered Care.
-Equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered.
Knowledge of LTC legislation, MOH compliance, Occupational Health & Safety.
Specialized training in Infection Control, Quality Management and Wound Care is preferred.

Position Summary:

Lead the Resident Care Team to provide quality care with a focus on individual Residents’ needs, advocating for Residents’ rights, and supporting the HR functions of the Resident Care Team. Ensure compliance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act.

-Efficiently manages the financial nursing budget.
-Advocates for and upholds Residents’ Rights maintains compliance within the Ministry requirements.
-Works collaboratively with the resident Care Coordinator and Scheduler to develop and maintain staffing patterns to meet resident needs.
-Supports and practices CQI.
-Assists and facilitates the Resident Care Team to: Develop philosophy and purpose of nursing services, Set goals and objectives for nursing department, Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures, Sets standards and accountability with quality resident care.
-Responsible to assist in the recruitment and selection of nursing staff.
-Ensures completion of performance appraisals of nursing staff.
-Ensures communication processes within department and Home is effective.
-Supports orientation of staff and staff education.
-Identify and assess educational needs, supports research and delivers education.
-Co-operates and co-ordinates services with internal/external care partners.
-Is current with new and developing trends in nursing.
-Works effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member and leads by values driven example.
-Act as the CARF Accreditation Lead for the home.
-Must be able to work as Charge Nurse if required, in the event of staffing shortages.
-Other tasks as directed by supervisor
