Experience Required

Knowledge and Skills
● Working knowledge of pedagogy methodology- high-scope and play-based learning

● Working knowledge of Himama app an asset

Required Qualifications
● Legally eligible to work in Canada
● Early Childhood Educator diploma or degree from an accredited college or university
● In good standing, and have an active registration, with the College of Early Childhood Educators
● Clean Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
● First-Aid level C certified (infant and toddler CPR)
● Proof of current (within six months) negative tuberculosis (TB) test
● Proof of updated vaccinations as required by Ontario’s Ministry of Health
● Bondable

Using How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, concepts derived from play-based learning as well as high-scope and nature-based teachings, Lakeside Childcare delivers programming that meets and exceeds children's natural curiosity and affinity for risky play, while simultaneously supporting children’s well-being and fostering their sense of belonging within the center, their families, and the community.

Summary
Reporting to the Centre Supervisor and Centre Director, Lakeside Childcare’s Early Childhood Educators will plan, organize, and implement programs for children ages 18-months to 5-years of age. Our ECEs will lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth while ensuring their security and supporting their well-being.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual who approaches child-focused care with a passionate, interactive approach to play, learning, and development.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
● Lead interactive activities: telling/reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the medium of art, dramatic play, music, sensory, and more
● Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children and coincides with Sarnia-Lambton Public Health Unit, the Ministry of Education, and Lakeside Childcare requirements
● Incorporate nature-based learning into a vast portion of programming, planning outdoor experiences: nature walks, etc.
● Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and bathroom habits
● Assess abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress/issues with parents and appropriate members of staff
● Performing ASQ’s (Ages and Stages Questionnaires) as needed or directed by administrative staffconsistent with the Ministry of Education's standards and conduct headcounts while transitioning rooms
● Keep and maintain thorough records of classroom happenings in the daily written record ● Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents/guardians and community service providers working with children
● Ensure positive interactions and behaviour guidance for children, encouraging self-regulation and healthy self-esteem
● Ability to exhibit patients, compassion and understanding to children, parents and staff ● Positively contribute to on-going operations of centre

● Position: Full-time/Part-time permanent/Call-In
● Full-Time Shifts: Monday to Friday- 6:30am to 3:30pm, 7:30am to 4:30pm, 8:30am to 5:30pm, 9:00am-6:00pm
● Part-Time Shifts: Monday to Friday- 11:00am to 4:00pm
● Location: Lakeside Childcare | 6482 Telfer Rd. Sarnia, ON
$25/hour, to be reviewed upon changes to current government regulations
